Drag Race
Rules and regulations:
Harness the power of gravity! Design a vehicle that effectively converts gravitational force into kinetic energy.
• Height of the ramp is 1m.(fig 1)
• Length of the ramp is 2m.
• The car should not exceed 800 grams. in weight and should weigh at least 300 grams.
• Wheel diameter should not be more than 7 cm. Wheel thickness can be of any value.
• Only 4-wheeled cars are allowed.
• Wheelbase should be between 10 to 15 cm.
• Three trials will be permitted.
• Metallic parts can be used.
• Model should resemble an automobile.
• Point contact wheels such as ball wheels are strictly not allowed.
• Ramp will be provided .
Problem Statement:
The car should not deviate from its path and should travel along a straight path marked (40 cm in width) on the ramp and also on the floor. This decides the stability of the car.
Format:
There will be 3 trials provided. The car that moves fastest and longest with maximum stability will win.
Round 1:
• Only distance will be measured in this round. Top 10 teams will be selected based on distance covered.
Round 2:
• Fastest car to cover a distance of 2.5 meters from the edge of the ramp will be declared the winner.
• Design cannot be altered for the second round .
