The Exam Management Cell (EMC) was established in the year 1997

About Examination Management Cell

The Examination Cell is a confidential section and the prime responsibility is to look after the entire process of internal Examinations diligently, in fair and systematic manner. It is an autonomous body Empowered to conduct the continuous assessment examination for the students of K.L.N.College of Engineering.

Separate block with well equipped infrastructure and strong room has been allocated for exam cell where the access is prohibited for unauthorized persons. The cell is constituted with Convenors, Co-Convenors and members from each department. The Cell conducts all the proceedings of the internal evaluation mechanism as per the schedule and procedure laid out by the affiliating University to meet out outcome based Education (OBE).

Primary Functions of Examination Management Cell

  1. Examination Cell prepares the exam schedule in accordance with the academic calendar 
  2. The schedule is circulated to the department through the department level members
  3. The cadre-wise invigilation duty is planned by the EMC
    • For Professors, one duty is assigned
    • For Associate Professors, two duty is assigned
    • For Assistant Professors, 3-4 duty is assigned
  4. The invigilation duty is disseminated to all the faculty members  prior to the conduct of examination
  5. EMC is planning the seating plans for the students in the Examination halls and the seating plans are informed to the students with the help of department level members. The seating plan is placed in the class room/ student’s notice board.
  6. The EMC estimates the number of answer sheets, graph sheet requirements of all department students.
    • The answer sheets are safely kept in the exam cell
    • During exams, the sheets are handed-over to the concerned invigilators
    • After exam time, the invigilators are submitting the answer paper to the EM cell members   
  7. Examination cell analyzes all examination results and in consultation with the Principal, HOD’s, Convenors of EMC and Quality Circle-Successful Graduation (QC-SG) coordinator, prepares the report thereof for submission to appropriate authorities for follow up action.
  8. Examination Cell keeps all records pertaining to examinations.

Internal Evaluation Process

Every department follows OBE and in regard to this, well refined evaluation process is followed.

  • Mechanism of internal assessment is transparent and robust in terms of frequency and variety.
  • Faculty members are trained with blooms taxonomy to set quality question papers and the questions are scrutinized by scrutinizing committee in each department.
  • Question paper with scheme of evaluation is submitted to EMC prior to internal test securely.
  • The answer scripts are evaluated according to course outcome and the individual student knowledge level is being analyzed.
  • Marks of the students are entered in the College Automation and result analysis of all department is been analyzed for betterment of student’s performance.
  • The policy will be framed in the HOD’s meeting in consultation with the Principal, Convenors of EMC and Quality Circle-Successful Graduation (QC-SG) for follow up action.

Internal Assessment Process

The internal assessment is carried out by conducting two Class Tests (CT) each for 25 marks and three Centralized Internal Tests (CIT) each for 50 marks to map with the course outcome. The frequency of the test is three to five times in a semester and the prescribed format will be framed occordingly.It is also designed to facilitate the assessment of the attainments of the course outcomes for the various courses.

After completion of examination, an exclusive software module has been framed by our college automation unit, where the faculty members enter the internal marks awarded to the students. Automation software module generates result analysis for each department.

Further overall college internal result analysis consolidation is done and result analysis review meetings are conducted by the principal and concerned QC-SG coordinator to improve the performance of the students.
